The City of Wrenford is hosting a youth hockey tournament at the Eastfield Twin Arenas this weekend. The event runs from Friday, July 10 to Sunday, July 12, 2026, and welcomes players of all skill levels from the surrounding communities. Located at 620 Eastfield Road, the arena will feature two active ice pads for games, a coaching clinic on Saturday morning, and a family-friendly spectator zone.
The tournament is designed to encourage local youth to stay active and build teamwork skills in a safe, supervised environment. Organizers will provide on-ice instruction, equipment check-out stations, and refreshment stands. Parents and siblings are welcome to watch the games and enjoy light snacks at the facility's concession area.
"Hockey is a big part of our community's identity, and we want to make sure every young player has a chance to shine on the ice," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "This tournament is a fantastic opportunity for kids to meet new friends, practice their skating, and experience the thrill of game day in a supportive setting."
Resident registration opens on Wednesday, July 8 at 8:00 a.m. on Wrenford Recreation Online. Team entries for players aged six to sixteen are welcome, and space is limited to forty teams. Once a team is registered, the City will handle all scheduling and referee assignments. Spectators do not need a pass to attend, but parking is available in the lot behind the main entrance.
The City also wants to remind families that the Eastfield Twin Arenas offer public skating sessions and learn-to-skate registration throughout the year. If your child is interested in taking their first steps on the ice, or if you simply want to enjoy a casual skate, visit our Public skating sessions and schedules page for weekly times and admission fees.
