Eastfield Twin Arenas host spring hockey tournament for youth

The City of Wrenford is partnering with the Wrenford Minor Hockey Association to host the Spring Youth Hockey Showcase at Eastfield Twin Arenas on May 16 and 17, 2026. The event will bring together teams from across the region for a weekend of games, skill challenges, and community fun.

This year’s tournament is designed for youth players aged six to eighteen. Registration is completely free for all participants, thanks to a new cooperative agreement between the City and the local hockey association. Several area businesses have also stepped forward to sponsor equipment and refreshments for the weekend.

"We are excited to bring the community together for a weekend of sport and friendly competition," said Councillor Arjun Sidhu, Ward 5. "Investing in youth recreation and providing accessible ice time for our young athletes is a priority for our city. Events like this showcase the strong partnerships that make Wrenford’s recreation programs so successful."

The tournament will kick off with an opening ceremony at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, at the Eastfield Twin Arenas. Local athletes will receive medals, and families are encouraged to arrive early to grab a seat in the stands. The event will feature two ice pads running side-by-side, allowing for a full day of play from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

Teams can register online through the City’s recreation portal. Parents who need help with the sign-up process can visit the Downtown Transit Terminal service counter or call 519-555-0100 for assistance. The City will also offer public skating sessions throughout the spring at Northgate Aquatic Centre and the Westbrook Community Arena for those looking to practice their skills.
