Council approves Westbrook Arena renovation scope

On May 21, 2026, Wrenford City Council approved the final renovation scope for the Westbrook Community Arena. The project will update the facility at 40 Westbrook Drive, including new ice resurfacing systems, a modernized main lobby, and upgraded spaces in the community hall. These upgrades will improve your experience when you attend public skating or book the hall for events.

The work is a key part of the city's Parks and recreation strategy. Crews will begin in early June to keep the arena closed during the busy summer months. You can still enjoy skating and league games by heading to the nearby Eastfield Twin Arenas for the season. The facility is expected to reopen in October 2026.

This project is funded through the city's approved capital budget and reserve accounts. The total approved cost is $4.2 million.

"Investing in our local arenas ensures we have safe, modern spaces for you to stay active and connect throughout the year," said Fiona Gallagher, GM of Community Services.

During the renovation, the city will adjust the public skating schedule and offer a temporary community skating pass at Eastfield. You can track construction progress and find updated hours on the arena page and the service alerts page.
