The City of Wrenford will host its annual Wrenford Ice Days festival this Family Day weekend, February 13 to 15, at Riverside Flats Park. City Council approved the event's operating budget during its regular meeting on Monday, February 2, 2026.
The approved budget of $125,000.00 covers ice resurfacing for the outdoor rinks, public skating sessions, live music, food vendors, and safety staffing. The funds come from the Recreation & Culture department's annual operating reserve and a municipal contribution approved through the winter services allocation.
"Family Day weekend is one of the most anticipated events in our community calendar, and we want to make sure it remains safe, accessible, and fun for everyone," said City Manager Robert Eng. "This budget ensures we can keep the rinks in top shape and bring in the entertainment residents have come to expect."
Residents planning to attend should note that on-street parking will be limited around the park. The Downtown Transit Terminal will run frequent shuttle services to the festival grounds throughout the weekend. Free parking is available at the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre lot, with a free shuttle departing every 20 minutes.
The festival will feature family-friendly activities starting Friday at 5:00 p.m., with full programming running Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. A full schedule of events, including vendor applications and volunteer sign-ups, is available on the News & Events page.
