Council approves 2027 operating budget with 0 per cent tax increase

On Monday, August 18, 2026, City Council approved the 2027 Adopted Operating Budget and the three-year Operating Plan during a regular meeting at City Hall. The approved budget maintains a 0 per cent increase in the municipal property tax rate for residents and businesses.

Wrenford's budget balances operating expenses with provincial grants, user fees, and service efficiencies. It funds ongoing commitments in waste collection, transit maintenance, and community safety, while also supporting capital projects like the Corvid Creek Ravine Pathway Extension and the Wildrye Connector Pathway. The plan also includes resources for winter road maintenance, park upkeep, and fire prevention programmes.

“A flat tax rate does not mean we are standing still,” said City Manager Robert Eng. “We have carefully reviewed every programme and service to ensure we are delivering reliable results for residents while keeping the cost of living manageable. This budget reflects the priorities you shared during our engagement process.”

You can view the full budget documents, including the detailed 2027–2029 Operating Plan, on the Budget page. If you have questions about how the budget affects a specific service, visit the City Services page to find contact information for the right department.

The 2027 Tax Levy By-law will be read for the first time at the September 8 council meeting and will come into force on January 1, 2027. Council will also consider the 2027–2030 Capital Works Program at its September 22 meeting. Updates on budget implementation will be reported back to Council in February 2027.
