Council approves 2027 budget that balances affordability and service quality

On Monday, September 15, 2026, Wrenford City Council approved the 2027 budget at City Hall, setting the financial plan for the city's operations, infrastructure, and community services.

You will find that the approved budget reflects the guidelines Council set earlier this year to keep property taxes steady while protecting essential services. Administration will focus on renewing aging water and wastewater systems, maintaining streets and winter maintenance operations, and supporting community programs at facilities like the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre and the Wrenford Public Library.

The budget also includes funding for the Corvid Creek Ravine Pathway Extension and continued support for the Waste Wise Schools programme. To help you manage costs, the city will continue to offer pre-authorized payment plans for property taxes and water bills, and will keep fee levels steady for most recreation registrations and business licensing. The budget follows months of public engagement and departmental reviews. You can expect current service levels for transit and Fire Rescue to continue while the city addresses long-term infrastructure needs.

“This budget allows us to invest in the infrastructure and services residents rely on every day while keeping a firm handle on tax increases,” said City Manager Robert Eng. “We have balanced the books responsibly so that Wrenford remains affordable and sustainable for years to come.”

You can view the full budget documents, including the operating budget and capital plan, on the City's website. The budget takes effect on January 1, 2027. Property tax interim bills will be mailed to you in February, and water billing cycles will continue every two months.
