Wrenford Council has approved the 2026 Tax Levy By-law 2026-044 at City Hall, setting the property tax rates for the coming year. The bylaw was passed on January 6, 2026, to meet provincial timelines and ensure the City can continue collecting revenue for essential services.
Property taxes remain a cornerstone of the City's finances, funding 42 per cent of the total operating budget. This revenue supports the roads you drive on, the transit routes that connect neighbourhoods, recreation facilities, and emergency services. The bylaw establishes the municipal portion of your tax bill. Requisitions collected on your notice cover provincial education and other government partners, which makes the total increase on your tax notice higher than the City's share alone.
For a residential property with an average assessed value of $100,000, the annual municipal tax increase is about $42.00, or $3.50 per month. The City's portion of the tax rate has been adjusted to match inflation and growth in the assessment base.
"This bylaw is the final legislative step needed to fund the programs and infrastructure that keep Wrenford running smoothly," said Robert Eng, City Manager. "We have balanced the budget carefully to keep the municipal tax increase manageable while protecting essential services."
Your 2026 tax notice will include both the municipal tax and requisitions. Interim bills are due on the last business day of February and the last business day of April. Final bills are due on the last business day of June and the last business day of September. If you prefer to pay monthly, you can sign up for the pre-authorized payment plan through your bank or online. You can also spread the cost over twelve months with the Tax Installment Payment Plan.
