City launches housing accelerator fund grant program

The City of Wrenford is launching the Housing Accelerator Fund grant program to help build more housing across the city. Applications will open on November 1, 2026, through the City’s online portal. The program is designed to speed up the creation of new homes in fully serviced neighbourhoods over the next three years.

Developers, builders, and non-profit housing groups can apply for funding through three different streams. The Construction Challenges Grant offers up to $150,000 to help projects that face unique building hurdles in Wrenford. The Missing Middle Housing Grant also provides up to $150,000 to encourage the building of smaller, denser homes like townhouses and duplexes. Finally, the Revitalizing Rental Stock Grant offers up to $50,000 to help owners improve existing rental buildings and keep them affordable.

“This grant program gives us a practical way to turn our housing strategy into real homes for families, seniors, and young workers,” said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “By removing financial barriers, we can bring more housing choices to every ward in Wrenford.”

Eligible projects must show support for the Wrenford Home Repair and Accessibility Grant program, or demonstrate that a non-profit organization is leading the redevelopment of a vacant building. The first intake round will run from November 1 to November 30, 2026. Funding will be awarded in quarterly cycles as money becomes available.
