The City of Wrenford is investing in emergency response services by building a new fire hall in the Industrial Park East neighbourhood. You can expect emergency response times for local businesses to drop by nearly 25 per cent. This new station will also ensure responders are positioned right next to the city's growing commercial and logistics hubs.
"This new fire hall is a direct investment in the safety and economic stability of our businesses," says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "When every second counts, having a dedicated station in the Industrial Park East area means faster response times for our neighbours and a stronger foundation for local commerce. It supports your ability to run your operations safely and efficiently."
The project will cost $15.8 million, covering the land, site preparation, and the design and construction of a 14,500-square-foot facility. The building will include eight dormitories, administrative offices, a dayroom, a fitness room, a training classroom, and an apparatus bay with two double-length bays, gear storage, and maintenance rooms.
The Wrenford Fire Rescue department will expand its workforce to staff the new location. The City is hiring 10 new firefighters and three new captains, alongside one new fire engine to join the fleet. "Our crews count on the right tools and the right placement to do their jobs safely and effectively," says Fire Chief Darren MacAulay. "This addition strengthens our ability to protect residents and businesses across the entire city, and it means you can rely on faster help when you need it most."
Construction is set to begin in the summer of 2026, with an expected timeline of 24 months. The fire hall is scheduled to open its doors in the spring of 2028. The City will share regular updates as the project moves forward.
