On May 19, 2026, Wrenford Council approved the 2026 Annual Report during its regular meeting at City Hall. The report provides a clear summary of the City's financial health, key projects, and the services that keep our community running smoothly. It also outlines how we invested in housing, recreation, economic development, and public safety throughout the past year.
Guided by our strategic priorities, the City delivered on several major commitments. You saw these investments firsthand: 850 new homes were completed, surpassing our provincial target and providing more options for growing families and newcomers. In recreation, you enjoyed the newly opened Wildrye Splash Pad and upgraded playground equipment at Ambrel Lake Park. We also expanded park amenities, including a new multi-use field at Riverside Flats Park and updated washrooms at Centennial Gardens.
Economic development remained a strong focus. The City supported local businesses through the Downtown Wrenford Business Improvement Area, hosting a spring business breakfast with the Wrenford Chamber of Commerce to connect owners with city resources. We also launched the Wrenford Green Business Grant, offering matching funds to help small businesses upgrade to energy-efficient equipment and reduce waste.
Public safety and sustainability efforts continued to grow. Wrenford Paramedic Services opened a new staff training and staging area at Eastfield, improving response times across the eastern neighbourhoods. The City also planted more than 1,500 new trees through the Streets and Parks greening programme and expanded curbside organics collection to all residential zones, helping you divert waste from the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility.
"The accomplishments in this year's Annual Report show what we can achieve when residents, Council, and City staff work together," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "From building more homes and supporting local businesses to investing in recreation and keeping our streets green, we are laying the groundwork for a stronger, more connected Wrenford."
