City Council approved the 2026–2029 capital budget for infrastructure on September 15, 2026. The plan sets aside $145 million to upgrade roads, bridges, parks, and water systems across Wrenford.
The budget focuses on keeping our city moving and safe. You will see more work on arterial roads like Benchlands Drive and Corvid Way, along with bridge inspections and repairs on the Centennial Bridge and Ferris Street Bridge. The plan also includes $12 million for the Tamsin River Trail System, $8.5 million for park upgrades in Wildrye and Ambrel Lake, and $30 million for water and wastewater upgrades to handle future growth.
"We made tough choices to keep this budget balanced," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "Our priority is maintaining the core infrastructure that supports your daily life, from the roads you drive on to the water that comes out of your tap. This three-year plan keeps our foundation strong while we plan for the next wave of development."
The budget is funded through a mix of provincial and federal grants, development charges from new builds, and the City's Capital Projects Reserve. The approved plan adds $42 million in new debt, which stays within the City's self-imposed borrowing limit. City Manager Robert Eng noted that the Capital Projects Reserve remains under pressure, and the City will look at reserve health when discussing the 2027 operating budget.
If you are a developer or homeowner planning a project, the approved budget aligns with the capital improvement plan and the Official Plan. You can track active projects and submit new requests through the development applications page. You can view the full budget report and a breakdown of project timelines on the Budget page.
"The updated budget gives our planning and development teams the tools they need to review permits and site plans quickly," said GM Infrastructure and Planning Samuel Adeyemi. "We are ready to move projects forward safely and on schedule."
The City will post monthly progress updates on the Service Alerts page. If you have questions about how the budget affects your neighbourhood, contact City Services at 519-555-0100 or email [email protected].
