Centennial Gardens 2026 annual maintenance schedule released

The City's Roads & Winter Maintenance team has released the 2026 maintenance schedule for Centennial Gardens. The plan covers all groundskeeping, planting, and infrastructure repairs from April through October at the downtown park located at 5 Victoria Street.

Spring cleanup runs through early May, followed by irrigation checks and soil amendments. The first wave of seasonal flowers will be planted in mid-May, with follow-up planting in July and September. Crews will also inspect and repair the park's pathways and benches, and ensure the cenotaph area is clean for the upcoming Remembrance Day service. Throughout the season, maintenance staff will mow the lawns, trim hedges, and remove any debris or fallen branches after storms.

Residents are asked to stay off newly planted beds and report any issues with the grounds. You can submit a report about damaged pathways, broken benches, or missed cleanups through the online service request forms. If you see a pothole or a sidewalk issue nearby, use the same forms to help us keep the area safe.

"Centennial Gardens is one of our most treasured spaces," says James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "This schedule helps us keep the gardens beautiful and the pathways safe for families, visitors, and wedding photo groups throughout the warmer months."
