Canada Day in the Park draws crowds to Centennial Gardens

The City of Wrenford welcomed a record number of residents and visitors to Centennial Gardens on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, for the annual Canada Day in the Park celebration. The free, family-friendly event brought the community together for live entertainment, local food vendors, and a spectacular fireworks finale over the Tamsin River.

Festivities began at 10:00 a.m. with a flag-raising ceremony led by Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price and City Council. Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed performances from local youth groups and the Wrenford Community Choir, alongside interactive art stations and a children’s craft zone. The downtown food vendor alley featured over two dozen local chefs and caterers, showcasing Wrenford’s growing culinary scene.

The event also highlighted the strength of our local business community. More than 40 merchants and service providers participated in the pop-up market, taking advantage of the Downtown business improvement grants to draw new customers into the core. The City’s economic development team worked closely with the Downtown BIA to coordinate street closures, parking management, and vendor permits.

‘Events like Canada Day in the Park are a powerful reminder of the value of face-to-face community engagement and the economic ripple effect it creates for our downtown merchants,’ said Isabel Moreno, Economic Development Manager. ‘When residents choose to shop local and dine out during these gatherings, they directly support the small businesses that keep our neighbourhoods vibrant.’

For business owners who want to take part in future street fairs, you can review the guidelines at the Downtown business improvement grants page. To discuss your ideas for a local activation, contact the Economic Development team directly. Registration for the next community market opens in September.
