Benchlands Lookout Park signage improvements installed 2026

The Roads & Winter Maintenance crew finished installing new signage at Benchlands Lookout Park on Tuesday, June 10. The upgrades are part of the department's spring maintenance cycle and are designed to help visitors navigate the festival grounds, the Tamsin River Trail System, and the surrounding picnic areas.

The new wayfinding signs include detailed maps of the park, clear directions to washrooms, drinking fountains, and the Centennial Gardens, as well as important safety information for trail users. The crew placed the signs at major trailheads, near the main event lawn, and at key intersections along the walking paths. All signs were installed using the city's standard durable materials to withstand the changing seasons.

"We want to make sure residents and visitors can easily find their way around the park, especially during busy events like the Benchlands Folk Festival," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "Clear signage makes the park safer and more enjoyable for everyone. It also helps reduce the number of calls we get asking where specific amenities are located."

If you notice a sign that is damaged, missing, or needs to be moved, you can report it through the city's online service request tool. The Roads & Winter Maintenance team will review the report and dispatch a crew to address it. Please remember to provide the exact location or a photo of the sign so the crew can find it quickly.
