On Monday, May 19, 2026, City Council adopted the 2026–2035 strategic plan for community growth at its regular meeting in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The ten-year roadmap sets out how Wrenford will guide neighbourhood development, protect the Tamsin River corridor, and keep services affordable for the next decade.
The plan builds on public feedback you shared through ward workshops, online surveys, and listening sessions with youth and seniors. You highlighted the need for safer routes to schools, more local jobs, and reliable transit connections across all six wards. The strategy aligns with the recently approved 2026 budget, ensuring that every priority you asked for is matched with realistic funding and clear timelines.
Council approved three guiding principles for the city’s work: citizen-centric service, financial sustainability, and environmental stewardship. The plan outlines five key focus areas for the 2026–2030 term, including strengthening the downtown core and the Downtown Business Improvement Area, expanding the multi-use trail network, supporting small businesses, improving affordable housing options, and upgrading green infrastructure to manage stormwater and flood risk along the river.
“This plan is our shared blueprint for the next ten years,” said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “It gives clear direction to every department so we can make decisions that balance growth with the character and natural features that make Wrenford home.”
City Manager Robert Eng noted that each city division will now align its annual budgets and service delivery targets to the plan. Progress will be reported to Council quarterly, and updates will be published on the City’s website. The strategy also sets clear targets for waste diversion, cycling infrastructure, and park maintenance, all of which will be reviewed annually.
