The Wrenford Police Service is hosting a series of free neighbourhood safety workshops across the city to help residents learn practical crime-prevention strategies and connect with local officers. The first round of sessions will take place in September and October at community centres in the Downtown, Benchlands, Northgate, Ambrel Lake, and Wildrye neighbourhoods.
These workshops are designed to give you the tools to keep your home and street secure. Officers from the Wrenford Police Service will cover topics like securing your property, spotting and reporting suspicious activity, and staying safe online. They will also share information on how neighbourhood watch groups can work with police to reduce local crime. Each session includes a short presentation followed by open discussion, so you can ask questions and share your own experiences.
"The safety of our streets depends on strong partnerships between the police and the people who live here," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "These workshops are a chance for residents to meet the officers who serve their ward, ask questions, and work together on solutions that matter."
Attendance is free and open to all residents. You do not need to register for the general drop-in sessions, but if you would like a printed copy of the safety checklist or need assistance with a mobility device, please call the Downtown Transit Terminal at 519-555-0114 to reserve a spot. Child care is not provided during the workshops, but quiet activity books will be available for children.
Each neighbourhood will receive a tailored safety packet after the session, and officers will be available at the back of the room for one-on-one conversations. If you cannot attend in person, a recording of the presentation will be posted online through the Neighbourhoods section.
We encourage you to spread the word to neighbours, landlords, and local business owners. When more people know how to secure their properties and report concerns, everyone feels safer. For more information on how to get involved in local safety initiatives, visit Neighbourhoods.
