Wrenford Police Service Headquarters security upgrade

Construction crews will begin a major security upgrade at the Wrenford Police Service Headquarters at 75 Albert Street on Monday, October 6. The project involves adding new fencing, upgrading entrance gates, and resurfacing the front driveway. City roads crews and the Police Service will work together to keep the building open while the work happens.

The upgrade will affect the parking lot along the east side of Albert Street and the driveway entrance. Starting October 6, the main driveway will be closed to all vehicles except emergency service access. There will be no parking on the east side of Albert Street between Albert and Mercer Streets during working hours (7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).

Roads crews will need to do utility locates on the site before any digging starts. If you live or work nearby, you will see bright orange paint or markers on the ground or sidewalk. These marks show where underground water, gas, and communication lines are located. Do not remove the paint or markers. They keep the crews safe and prevent damage to important services.

The police front desk will remain open 24 hours a day at 75 Albert Street. Emergency calls still go to 9-1-1. If you need to access the building during the driveway closure, use the side entrance near the parking lot. Police officers will direct traffic if needed.

"The security upgrade is a long-needed investment in the safety of our officers and the people who visit the headquarters," said Police Chief Andrea Holloway. "We appreciate residents and drivers understanding the temporary changes while the construction is underway."

Roads & Winter Maintenance crews will be on site from October 6 to November 21. The work includes pouring new concrete, installing heavy-duty bollards, and repaving the driveway. You may hear noise from trucks and equipment during the day.

Residents and businesses on Albert Street should plan for extra travel time. If you need to load or unload at the police building, contact the Police Service in advance to arrange a temporary permit or alternative access. For questions about the construction schedule, traffic changes, or utility locates, visit the Roads & Winter Maintenance page or call 519-555-0100.
