Winter service stop locations reviewed for Northgate area

The City of Wrenford is reviewing winter service stop locations for the Northgate neighbourhood ahead of the 2025–2026 season. Crews from Roads & Winter Maintenance are updating where buses and transit vehicles stop along Northgate Boulevard to make sure passengers can board and exit safely when snow and ice are on the ground.

Northgate Boulevard is a busy arterial road that carries transit routes through the heart of the Northgate neighbourhood. During winter, snow banks and plowing equipment can sometimes narrow the road or block clear sightlines for drivers and riders. The review looks at every stop on the route to check visibility, curb space, and how quickly the road is cleared after a storm.

If your stop is near a driveway, a curve, or a newly planted tree, the location might shift a few metres closer or further down the road. The goal is to keep everyone safe and on time. Transit riders can expect the updated stop locations to go into effect by the time the first heavy snowfall hits.

Residents and business owners who want to suggest a change or share feedback can contact the winter maintenance team at [email protected] or call 519-555-0100. Requests to move a stop are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and the City will post updates on the Service Alerts page when changes are approved.

“Keeping our transit stops accessible and easy to find during the winter months is a top priority for us,” said Samuel Adeyemi, GM Infrastructure and Planning. “By working closely with transit operators and checking the routes before the season starts, we can make sure your bus stops are safe, visible, and ready for snow.”

The City also reminds drivers that the overnight on-street parking ban runs from December 1 to March 31 between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on main roads. This allows plows to clear the full width of the street so transit vehicles and emergency services can pass without delay.
