Volunteer with community groups to support local initiatives

On May 13, 2025, the City of Wrenford announced a new volunteer coordination program designed to connect residents with local community groups and neighbourhood initiatives across all six wards. The program, managed by the Neighbourhoods Office at City Hall, will streamline how volunteers sign up for park cleanups, trail maintenance, and local festival support.

Residents can now register directly through the Neighbourhoods page or attend a monthly orientation at Room 204, Wrenford City Hall, to speak with staff about their interests. The program matches volunteers with existing community associations, block parties, and park improvement projects. "We want to make it easier for people who care about their neighbourhoods to put that care into action," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Whether you have an hour or a whole weekend, there is a place for you."

The program focuses on three main areas:

Volunteers must be 14 years or older. Youth aged 14 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants will receive a free library card and a reusable tote bag. The City will also provide basic first aid training and safety briefings for all roles.

To get started, visit the Neighbourhoods page online or call 519-555-0100. For specific group inquiries, email [email protected].

The Neighbourhoods Office continues to support community associations and local initiatives throughout the year. Visit the Neighbourhoods page for upcoming registration dates, volunteer schedules, and more information on how to build a stronger Wrenford together.
