Tamsin River Run registration opens for May

Registration for the Tamsin River Run is open now. The annual 5-kilometre and 10-kilometre race will take place on the Tamsin River Trail this May. Participants will run through Riverside Flats Park and Benchlands Lookout Park on a flat, scenic course along the water.

Runners of all ages and fitness levels are welcome. The event is organised by the City of Wrenford in partnership with local running clubs and volunteer groups. Registration includes a race shirt, a timed bib, and access to the post-race festival at Riverside Flats Park. Early registration is available until April 30. On-the-day registration will be offered at the starting line, but spaces are limited and often sell out in advance.

To sign up, visit the Tamsin River Run page on the City website or stop by the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall. You can also call 519-555-0100 for help. If you need a fee waiver or a reduced registration fee, the City offers Leisure Access Cards for residents who qualify. Apply at City Hall or contact recreation programmes for more details.

"We want to make sure everyone in our community can join the race, whether they are training for a personal best or just want to walk the course with their family," said Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "The trail is in great shape this spring, and we expect a strong turnout."

The race will start and finish near the Riverside Flats Park event lawn. Water stations will be set up every kilometre along the route. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Park and ride lots will be available at the Downtown Transit Terminal and the Northgate Drop-off Depot. Free shuttle buses will run from these lots to the finish line every 15 minutes on race day.

Volunteers are still needed for race day. If you would like to help hand out water, guide runners, or manage the finish line, please register through the volunteer sign-up form online. Volunteers receive a free T-shirt and a post-race meal.

The Tamsin River Run is just one of the many ways the City celebrates our community and outdoor spaces. You can also use this time to review election rules and more to make sure you are ready for the upcoming municipal election. For a full list of spring and summer events, check the Event Calendar.
