The City of Wrenford has begun its spring street sweeping program across all six wards. Crews from Roads & Winter Maintenance will start on major roads and the downtown grid this week, moving to residential neighbourhoods in April and May. The work removes sand, gravel and debris that built up over the winter months and keeps our storm drains flowing freely.
During the first phase, crews will work up to 12 hours a day, five days a week. You will not be able to park on streets that have been scheduled for sweeping. Vehicles left in no-parking zones may receive a parking ticket under the city's Traffic and Parking bylaws and regulations and could be towed so crews can clean the full width of the road. We will post signs in each neighbourhood to show when sweeping is happening.
You can find out exactly when crews will be in your area by checking the seasonal service map on the Garbage & Recycling page or calling the Roads office at 519-555-0112.
As crews and large equipment move through the streets, please drive carefully. Street sweeping can kick up dust and sand. Close your windows when you can and use sidewalks away from the work zones. If you see a sweeper, slow down and leave plenty of space.
“Keeping our streets clear of winter residue protects our stormwater system and makes our roads safer for everyone,” says James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. “We appreciate residents moving their cars when requested so crews can finish the job quickly.”
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we kick off the spring maintenance season. For more information about winter parking bans, snow clearing and street sweeping schedules, visit the Roads & Winter Maintenance page.
