Riverside Flats Park trail repairs underway

Crews from the Roads & Winter Maintenance department are currently repairing erosion and surface damage on a section of the Tamsin River Trail System near Riverside Flats Park. The work began on Monday, May 12, 2025, and is expected to wrap up by Friday, May 23.

The affected trail section is temporarily closed to pedestrians and cyclists. A signed detour directs users to follow the parallel service road along Water Street and connect to the north bank path. You will see standard daytime work hours, equipment noise, and temporary traffic controls in the area. Please stay on marked paths, keep pets on a short leash, and follow all crew instructions for your safety.

The repairs address surface washouts and erosion caused by recent spring runoff and high water levels along the Tamsin River. While the trail is closed, you can still access the park entrance on Water Street and enjoy the event lawn and washroom facilities. The City appreciates your patience as we improve this popular stretch of the trail system before the warmer weather arrives.

"We want to make sure the trail is safe and accessible for everyone before the busy summer months," says Fiona Gallagher, GM Community Services. "These repairs will fix the washouts, improve drainage, and make the surface smoother for walkers, runners, and cyclists."

The City will post updates on the service alert page if the schedule changes. If you have questions about the work or need more information on how the City maintains parks and trails, please visit our Roads & Winter Maintenance page or contact the Parks & Trails team.
