Remembrance Day Service honors veterans at Wrenford Cemetery

The City of Wrenford will hold its annual Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph in Centennial Gardens on Wednesday, November 11. The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. and will include a parade, a service of remembrance, and a roll-past of local veterans and first responders.

To keep the community safe and allow the procession to move smoothly, the City will close several streets around the downtown core. Mercer Street between Water Street and Church Street, and the block of Church Street between Albert Street and Victoria Street will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On-street parking along these roads will also be prohibited during that time.

Public transit routes through the downtown area will be temporarily rerouted. Wrenford Transit will use alternate streets during the closure window. Riders should expect a delay of five to ten minutes on routes 1 through 4. Check the Transit page for the full schedule and map.

Garbage and recycling collection will also be affected. On Tuesday, November 10, crews will start their evening shifts early. Residents in the affected zones should place their carts at the curb by 4:00 p.m. On Wednesday, daytime collection is moved to the evening. Place your carts between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Collection for the rest of the week may experience minor delays as crews adjust their routes. Visit the Garbage & Recycling page for your neighbourhood's exact schedule.

"We ask all residents to take a moment on November 11 to honour the service and sacrifice of those who served in the Canadian Armed Forces," says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "The service is open to everyone, and we encourage families and community groups to join us."

The City thanks residents for their patience as we prepare for the day. For more details on the service program and volunteer opportunities, visit the News & Events section.
