Northgate Drop-off Depot hours extended for hazardous waste

Starting March 1, 2025, the City of Wrenford will extend operating hours at the Northgate Drop-off Depot to better accommodate household hazardous waste drop-offs. Located at 1010 Northgate Boulevard, the depot will now accept items like paint, solvents, batteries, and motor oil on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The existing Wednesday hours remain unchanged. This change means residents can drop off these materials safely without travelling to the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility, reducing the need for long drives across the city.

Residents should bring items in their original containers or clearly labelled secondary containers. Please do not mix liquids or combine different types of waste. The depot is open to the public free of charge for up to 100 litres of hazardous waste per visit. If you have questions about preparing your materials, call 311 or email [email protected]. Keeping these materials out of the regular garbage stream protects our groundwater and prevents dangerous reactions in landfill vehicles.

“We know many residents need more flexibility to sort and drop off their household hazardous waste,” said Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. “These extended hours make it easier to keep our community clean and safe while giving you a convenient local option.”
