Northgate Branch hosts winter reading challenge kickoff

The Wrenford Public Library is kicking off its annual Winter Reading Challenge at the Northgate Branch on Wednesday, February 12. You can visit the branch to pick up a reading log, set personal goals, and track your progress through March. Whether you prefer picture books, graphic novels, or long novels, the library has materials to match your pace.

Participants can log their reading time, try out new books from the collection, and attend special storytelling sessions and craft workshops. The library has set up a quiet reading lounge in the community room where you can relax and share your favourite stories with neighbours. Staff will be on hand to help you choose your next read and answer any questions about the challenge rules.

"We want to encourage a love of reading during the colder months and give everyone a chance to explore new genres and authors," says Tara Sandhu, Library CEO. "The Northgate Branch is a great place to connect with the community and get inspired by the books we have on the shelves. You do not need to read every day, but keeping a steady habit makes the challenge more fun."

You can register at the front desk or download a digital reading log from the library website. Prizes will be awarded at a closing ceremony in late March for participants who reach their goals. Families can bring their own books or borrow them from the branch. The library also offers digital titles through its online portal, so you can track your reading even if you stay home.
