Northgate Aquatic Centre summer swim lessons begin

The City of Wrenford Recreation & Culture department is pleased to announce that summer swim lessons will begin at the Northgate Aquatic Centre on Monday, May 19, 2025. With the outdoor pool season approaching, families can register for group and private lessons designed to build water confidence and swimming skills for all ages.

Public swim, aquafit, and length swim will also return to the 50-metre lap pool and dive tank on the same day. The waterslide will open for the season shortly after. To accommodate the increased number of visitors, the City will implement a temporary loading zone and adjust parking lot access on Northgate Boulevard from May 19 to August 31. Crews from Roads & Winter Maintenance will be installing new temporary signage and marking off a dedicated drop-off area near the main entrance. Drivers should expect minor lane shifts during the construction window, which runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

“We are thrilled to welcome families back to the Northgate Aquatic Centre for another busy summer season,” said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “Our staff and lifeguards have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure all pools are fully tested and safe, and we are ready to help residents of all ages splash and learn in the water.”

Swim lessons are divided into age groups and ability levels, starting from parent-and-tot classes for young children to advanced stroke development for teens and adults. Registration opens on Monday, May 12 at 8:00 a.m. for residents and on May 19 for non-residents. All participants must be assessed at their first class to ensure they are placed in the appropriate level.
