Northgate Aquatic Centre reopens September 30 for winter season

The City of Wrenford Parks, Recreation & Culture department is pleased to announce the reopening of the Northgate Aquatic Centre on Monday, September 30, 2025. The facility has completed its seasonal transition and is ready to welcome swimmers, families, and community groups back into the water for the winter season.

During the summer months, the outdoor pool at Kingfisher Outdoor Pool and the splash pad at Wildrye Splash Pad served as popular alternatives for residents. Now that the weather turns cooler, the Northgate Aquatic Centre will resume full daily operations. Public swim, length swim, aquafitness classes, and swimming lessons will return to the schedule starting this week. The sauna and hot tub will also be open for public use.

"The reopening of Northgate Aquatic Centre is a great step into the fall for our community," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "I want to thank residents for their patience during the summer months and for supporting our aquatic staff. We are excited to see the pools full again and look forward to offering safe, fun programming for all ages."

While all indoor work is complete, crews will continue exterior maintenance around the building throughout the season. The City appreciates the patience of facility users and thanks staff at other recreation locations for accommodating the increased number of visitors.

Residents can view the updated weekly schedule and book classes online. Swim lessons run for six weeks, and new participants can register through the Wrenford Recreation Online portal. Drop-in public swim sessions are available daily, and a 10-visit punch pass is available for regular users. Winter lesson registration opens on Monday, December 1.
