As the snow clears from the streets and the spring road repairs get underway, it is time to look ahead to the warmer months. The City of Wrenford is preparing for the summer swim season at the Northgate Aquatic Centre. Located at 910 Northgate Boulevard, the facility features a 50-metre lap pool, a dive tank, and a waterslide. It will reopen for daily swim and learn-to-swim classes later this year.
Registration opened on the first Monday of March, and you can still sign up online or by phone. The outdoor pool season runs from late June to Labour Day. You can register for learn-to-swim classes for all ages and ability levels. Experienced instructors will guide you through water safety, floating, kicking, and swimming techniques. The program follows the national Swim for Life curriculum.
"We are making sure every lane is ready for swimmers of all ages," says Caroline Dubé, Recreation Programs Coordinator. "Our staff will be checking the water temperature and safety equipment daily so you can enjoy the pool with peace of mind."
To register, visit the program page online or call the centre at 519-555-0121. You can also sign up in person at the Northgate Aquatic Centre front desk. Please bring a towel, a well-fitting swimsuit, and a completed health declaration form. If you are under the age of 10, an adult must accompany you in the change rooms for safety.
