Northgate Aquatic Centre parking access restored after construction

Parking access at the Northgate Aquatic Centre is fully restored as of Friday, August 15, 2025, following the completion of recent paving and drainage work. The lot at 910 Northgate Boulevard is now open for regular visitor and staff use.

If you visited the aquatic centre last week, you may have noticed temporary lane shifts or reduced spaces while crews graded the surface and installed new storm drains near the main entrance. The construction was necessary to improve how water moves away from the building and to fix worn sections of the pavement that had developed over the past few years.

“The reopening of the aquatic centre parking lot is a welcome milestone for our community,” said Fiona Gallagher, general manager of community services. “We appreciate everyone’s patience while we upgraded the lot to better manage water runoff and improve safety for drivers and pedestrians. The centre is ready to welcome swimmers, families, and league participants back to the full pool of spaces.”

With the lot fully operational, visitors can return to standard drop-off procedures. If you are planning a trip to the 50-metre pool, dive tank, or waterslide this afternoon, allow a few extra minutes to find a spot if the facility is busy. For details on resident permits, visitor passes, and enforcement zones, see the parking page.

The aquatic centre is operating on its regular summer schedule: Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Check the aquatic centre page for hours, registration dates, and public swim times. If you have questions about the construction work, contact the facilities team at 519-555-0121.
