Main Street bike lanes construction begins May 5

Starting May 5, the City of Wrenford will begin construction on Main Street to install dedicated bike lanes and implement a road diet. These changes will improve safety and active transportation options for everyone using the street.

The project will convert the existing four-lane vehicle road into a three-lane setup. This keeps two travel lanes open for cars while adding protected cycling lanes on both sides. The work supports the City's active transportation goals and fits into the larger Transportation master plan.

Construction is expected to last several weeks, depending on the weather. Drivers should plan ahead and expect delays. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction during active work hours. The City will use on-site electronic signs to alert drivers of any temporary lane changes.

Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to pass through the area. To keep everyone safe, sidewalks and bike paths may shift temporarily. Watch for detour signs and follow the instructions of construction crews and traffic controllers.

"We know construction brings short-term changes, but these upgrades will make Main Street safer and more accessible for years to come," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "Thank you for your patience as we build a more connected and sustainable street for everyone."
