Lights at the Falls festival extends hours for holiday weekend

The City of Wrenford is extending the hours for the Lights at the Falls festival this holiday weekend. The festive light displays along Fallsview Road and the Tamsin River Trail will stay lit until 10:00 p.m. from Friday, December 26 to Sunday, December 28.

Residents who missed the earlier evening viewings can now stroll the illuminated path at a later time. The extra hours also give families a chance to enjoy the displays after work or school. Free hot chocolate stations will be set up at Centennial Gardens and Benchlands Lookout Park on Saturday afternoon.

"We know the holiday season gets busy, and we want to make sure everyone has a chance to see the lights," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "The extended hours are a small change that makes a big difference for neighbours who want to share the season with their families."

Winter weather is expected to bring snow and ice to the region over the weekend. The City's Roads & Winter Maintenance crews are treating the main routes and pathways around Fallsview ahead of the crowds. If you plan to walk the Tamsin River Trail System, please wear boots with good traction and carry a flashlight. The trail is open, but some sections may be icy.

Drivers should expect increased traffic near the festival route. Park at a nearby lot or take Wrenford Transit to the Downtown Transit Terminal and walk the short distance. Transit runs on a regular weekend schedule, but check the trip planner for real-time updates.
