Kingfisher Outdoor Pool closes August 10 for the season

The Kingfisher Outdoor Pool will close for the season on Monday, August 10, 2025. This closure allows City staff to complete essential repairs and prepare the facility for winter.

Although the pool has received regular upkeep, the basin requires significant work to address ongoing water loss and aging underground piping. Continuing to operate the pool in its current condition would require excessive chemical treatments, making it unsafe for the public. During this time, crews will investigate the source of the water loss, replace the damaged piping, and install a custom liner. These upgrades are expected to extend the useful life of the pool and improve water quality for future seasons.

"We understand the Kingfisher Outdoor Pool and its splash pad are popular gathering spots for families in the Kingfisher neighbourhood," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "We appreciate your patience while we invest in the long-term safety and reliability of this cherished community space."

Residents who enjoy swimming can visit other aquatic centres in the meantime. The Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre and the Northgate Aquatic Centre remain open for public swimming throughout August. Drop-in swim times, swim lessons, and the Wrenford Access programme continue as scheduled at both locations.

The City thanks the community for their understanding as we work to keep our public facilities safe and ready for future seasons.
