Housing needs assessment data released for public review in March

The City of Wrenford has released the 2025 Housing Needs Assessment data for public review. Managed by the Housing Strategy Steering Committee, the report offers a clear picture of local market trends, affordability gaps, and shifting demand across all six wards.

With a population of 92,400, Wrenford is experiencing rapid changes in its housing landscape. The updated data shows tight rental vacancy rates, a growing number of renters, and increased interest in supportive and non-market housing options. Residents in neighbourhoods like the Benchlands, Wildrye, and downtown are seeing the strongest demand for affordable units. The assessment also highlights the need for more accessible housing that supports older adults who wish to age in place.

"This data gives us the evidence we need to make smart, fast decisions," said Robert Eng, City Manager. "It helps us focus our resources where they are needed most, from supporting the Safe Nights Wrenford shelter to expanding our housing land bank and streamlining development permits."

You can view the full dataset, ward-level dashboards, and downloadable reports on the Access housing needs assessment page. The findings will directly shape the next five years of the Access housing strategy documents. City planners will use the data to adjust zoning rules, target development incentives, and plan for new neighbourhoods.

Residents are encouraged to review the information before the next Council meeting, where housing priorities will be discussed. If you have questions about the data or how it affects your community, contact the Housing Programs Coordinator, Colin Ashby, at [email protected].
