Harvest on Mercer draws crowds to downtown streets for fall festivities

Harvest on Mercer returns to downtown Mercer Street this September for a day of live music, local food, and family activities. Organized with the Downtown Business Improvement Area, the free festival will take over the main thoroughfare for the first weekend of the month, drawing visitors from across Wrenford.

The city will close the street to through traffic from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13. You can browse vendor booths along the block between Water Street and Church Street, enjoy live acoustic and folk sets on a stage near Centennial Gardens, and let the little ones play in the kids’ craft zone. Food trucks and local breweries will line the sidewalks, offering seasonal treats. Street performers and roaming musicians will keep the energy moving through the crowd all afternoon.

“Harvest on Mercer is a chance for our community to come together and celebrate the season right in the heart of downtown,” said Fiona Gallagher, general manager of community services. “It brings together local artists, food producers, and our neighbours for a day that highlights what makes Wrenford’s city centre so special.”

If you plan to attend, check the event updates for any schedule changes and review the parking and transit detour maps posted by the City. The Downtown Transit Terminal will host a special shuttle loop, and on-street parking along the closed stretch will be replaced by designated lots on nearby side streets. Cyclists can use the Tamsin River Trail System to access the area safely. The event was approved by Council as part of the ongoing downtown revitalization strategy.
