Construction crews have reached a major structural milestone at 1220 Ambrel Lake Road, marking the topping out ceremony for the new Fire Station 4. The project is on schedule to open in early 2027.
"This new fire station is a long-needed investment for the Ambrel Lake neighbourhood," said Fire Chief Darren MacAulay. "It will cut down response times for emergency calls and give our firefighters a modern place to train and host community safety events."
The Ambrel Lake area has grown quickly over the past decade. Adding a fire station here ensures that emergency services keep pace with the new homes and businesses. The building will include three vehicle bays for fire trucks, a training room, a kitchen, and offices for station staff.
Beyond emergency response, the station is designed to serve the community. The ground floor will feature a large multi-purpose room that local groups can book for meetings and educational workshops. The building will also include publicly accessible washrooms for residents and visitors using the nearby Tamsin River Trail System.
Residents who have followed the project will notice ongoing road work and material deliveries along Ambrel Lake Road. The City works closely with the construction team to keep traffic moving safely. If you notice damage to your driveway or a problem with a city sidewalk near the site, please report it through Service Wrenford or by calling 311.
The project is part of the City's Capital Improvement Plan, which funds essential infrastructure upgrades across all six wards. Staff are continuing to work with the developer and the construction contractor to ensure the building meets all planning and safety standards.
