The City of Wrenford announced today that Fire Station 4, located at 1220 Ambrel Lake Road, has reached the structural topping out milestone. The project is on schedule for completion and is expected to open to City crews in spring 2026.
Topping out marks the point where the building’s steel frame and roof structure are fully erected. Construction crews will now move to exterior cladding, glazing, and interior build-out. The new station will replace aging temporary facilities and serve the rapidly growing Ambrel Lake neighbourhood in Ward 4.
The new station will feature two engine bays, a chief’s office, a crew rest area, and a dedicated training room for fire safety presentations. It will also include a publicly accessible washroom and a multi-purpose community space, allowing the station to serve as a neighbourhood hub beyond emergency response.
“As our neighbourhood continues to expand, having a modern, fully equipped fire station right here in Ambrel Lake is essential for protecting our residents and improving emergency response times,” said Ward 4 Councillor Grace Whitlock. “This facility will keep our community safer for years to come.”
The project was approved through the standard Development Applications process, which includes environmental assessments, site plan control, and engineering reviews. Throughout the planning phase, City staff worked closely with you and your neighbours in the Ambrel Lake community to address local concerns regarding construction traffic, noise, and parking.
