Fire Station 2 renovation project breaks ground

The City of Wrenford broke ground today on the Fire Station 2 renovation project. The work will transform the facility at 880 Northgate Boulevard into a modern emergency hub for the Northgate and Eastfield neighbourhoods.

Council approved the project earlier this year as part of the long-term public safety strategy leading up to the 2026 municipal election. The renovation ensures that our emergency services remain ready for the city’s continued growth.

“This renovation is a vital investment in our community’s safety and wellbeing,” said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “Fire Station 2 will not only cut response times for the growing eastern part of the city, but also give residents a dedicated space for fire prevention workshops and neighbourhood meetings.”

The upgraded station will feature expanded bays for newer firefighting vehicles, a modern training room, and a publicly accessible washroom. It will also include a Blue Box recycling drop-off area to help residents in the area separate their recyclables more easily. Crews will work Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. You can expect some temporary lane closures near the station entrance during peak work hours.

Work is expected to finish by November 2026. For updates on construction schedules, traffic detours, and project milestones, visit the Fire Station 2 page. You can also sign up for service alerts to get email updates directly.
