Eastfield Twin Arenas resurfacing project completes

The resurfacing project at Eastfield Twin Arenas is now complete as of April 20, 2025. The Roads & Winter Maintenance team has finished upgrading both ice pads at 620 Eastfield Road, and the facility is ready for the fall hockey season.

This capital maintenance work took place over the past three months. Crews removed the old surface, fixed underlying drainage issues, and installed a new base layer that will better handle freeze-thaw cycles. The upgrade ensures a faster, more consistent playing surface for youth and adult hockey leagues, as well as summer ball hockey and community programmes. The Arenas will stay open for summer sports through August while the ice system cools down for winter.

You can start booking rinks for the 2025–2026 season soon. Booking opens in early August, and schedules will be posted online. If you need a new booking account or have questions about league registrations, visit the Facilities page or call the Arenas front desk at 519-555-0123. Please remember that all skaters must wear helmets and follow posted safety rules while on the ice. You can also check the Roads & Winter Maintenance page for updates on how the City maintains municipal sports facilities.

"Getting the ice in top shape before the season starts is a priority for our community," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "This resurfacing work means safer play and fewer surface disruptions for everyone using the rinks this winter."
