The City of Wrenford has finished upgrading the ice resurfacing system at Eastfield Twin Arenas, located at 620 Eastfield Road. Crews completed the installation last week, ensuring both ice pads are ready for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.
Eastfield Twin Arenas ice resurfacing upgrade complete ahead of season
The project replaced the old mechanical resurfacers with modern, energy-efficient models. The new machines use less water and consume significantly less electricity, which aligns with the City's goal to reduce our environmental footprint while keeping facilities open for everyone. The upgrade was funded through the current capital budget for recreational infrastructure.
"Our focus has always been on providing safe, high-quality ice for our community leagues and learn-to-skate programmes," said Robert Eng, City Manager. "These new machines will run more quietly, make fewer repairs in the middle of the season, and cost less to operate over the long term."
The upgrade included new ice resurfacers, a water filtration system, and updated plumbing to the rink floor. Crews also repainted the face-off circles and refreshed the boards and glass. The work was scheduled during the summer off-season to avoid disrupting any summer sports programmes or community rentals.
The Eastfield Twin Arenas, which also host summer ball hockey, will open its doors for fall league registrations and public skating soon.
