Eastfield Twin Arenas ice resurfacing schedule updated for October

The City of Wrenford is updating the ice resurfacing schedule at the Eastfield Twin Arenas for October to complete essential brine system maintenance. Starting October 6, crews will resurface the ice twice a week instead of daily to ensure the rink is ready for the full winter season.

The brine system circulates chilled liquid through the pipes under the rink surface to freeze the ice. Like any mechanical system, it requires regular checks and occasional upgrades to run efficiently. This October maintenance window gives us the time we need to replace worn seals and test new pumps without interrupting the daily resurfacing routine during the busy fall and winter months.

“We want to make sure the ice is in top shape for the 2025–2026 season,” said Samuel Adeyemi, GM Infrastructure and Planning. “By doing this work now, we avoid unexpected delays later in the year and keep our facilities open for everyone.”

During the maintenance period, the City will still keep the rink surface frozen. You will notice slightly less frequent resurfacing, which means the ice may have a few more passes from previous sessions. All public skating sessions, hockey practices, and league games that have already been booked will continue as planned. If your booking falls on a day when the ice is being prepped for the weekend, your slot will be moved to the next available time.

You can view the updated October schedule and adjust your bookings online. The City has also extended the drop-in skate window on Saturdays to make up for the reduced weekday resurfacing.
