Council sets priorities for 2026 including housing and safety initiatives

Wrenford City Council has approved a five-point strategic plan for the 2026–2030 term, setting the direction for housing, safety, and community growth. The priorities were adopted during the council meeting on December 16, 2025, at Wrenford City Hall.

The plan covers five main areas: Safe Neighbourhoods, Affordable Housing, Green and Resilient, Thriving Economy, and Connected Communities. Each area includes specific goals that will guide how the city spends money, writes policies, and delivers services over the next four years. For example, the Affordable Housing priority will look at ways to support the development of new rental units and strengthen partnerships with local housing providers. The Safe Neighbourhoods priority will focus on community safety programmes and better coordination with the Wrenford Police Service and Tamsin Valley Public Health.

“We are building a plan that reflects what you have told us matters most,” says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “These priorities will help us make sure every resident feels safe, supported, and proud of where they live.”

City staff are now working on a detailed work plan to move these goals forward. The work plan will include timelines, budgets, and key performance measures. It will be presented to council in early 2026.

What this means for you:

  • Council meetings on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month will discuss how these priorities shape upcoming decisions.
  • You can view the full strategic plan and related budget documents on the Budget page.
  • If you have ideas for how the city can meet these goals, you can submit feedback through the Community engagement policy process.

The council will review progress on these priorities at quarterly accountability reports. For more information on how council works and how you can get involved, visit the Council page.
