Wrenford City Council approved the 2025 property tax rate by-law at its meeting on January 6, 2025. The by-law sets the municipal tax rate needed to fund the City’s operating budget and cover provincial requisitions for the upcoming year.
The approved rate results in a 5.2 per cent increase for residential properties, a 3.8 per cent increase for multi-family properties, and a 5.2 per cent increase for non-residential properties. This change reflects the City’s commitment to balancing affordable rates with the need to maintain and improve essential services.
Provincial requisitions, which support education and seniors' affordable housing, make up approximately 25 per cent of the average residential tax bill. These amounts are set by the Province of Ontario and must be collected by the City on their behalf.
For every $100,000 of residential assessed value, the total annual property tax bill will increase to $1,025.00 in 2025, up from $974.00 in 2024. This equates to an additional $4.27 per month for the average homeowner. Individual tax notices will vary depending on your property’s assessed value and any applicable tax exemptions or rebates.
“Setting the municipal property tax rate is a key step in funding the services, infrastructure, and amenities that make Wrenford a vibrant and thriving community,” said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “With careful financial planning and a strong assessment base, we continue to support economic growth while keeping taxes competitive and maintaining high-quality services for all residents.”
Property tax notices will be mailed on May 15, 2025. The payment deadline is June 30, 2025, unless you have enrolled in the Tax Instalment Plan (TIP). You can register for the TIP online through the City website by June 15, 2025, or in person at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street. Payments can be made by pre-authorized monthly debits, online, by mail, or at the Revenue Services drop box at City Hall.
