On January 9, 2025, City Council approved the 2025 General Operating Budget at a meeting in the Council Chambers at Wrenford City Hall. The $182.5 million budget includes updated parking rates to help fund road repairs and transit upgrades.
The approved budget supports essential services like snow removal, road maintenance, and the Wrenford Transit network. It is funded through a mix of property taxes, user fees, and provincial grants.
To keep the parking system running smoothly and fund transit improvements, Council approved a modest update to hourly parking rates. The changes will take effect on March 1, 2025.
Zone A parking in the downtown core will increase from $2.00 to $2.25 per hour. Zone B parking in the Fallsview and Market Square areas will increase from $1.50 to $1.75 per hour. Zone C parking in neighbourhood commercial areas will increase from $1.00 to $1.25 per hour.
“We need to balance keeping services affordable for residents while making sure our streets and transit system stay safe and reliable,” says Leah Thibodeau, City Treasurer. “Updating our parking rates is a small step that helps us avoid bigger service cuts later.”
The new rates apply to Pay & Go kiosks and the Wrenford Park mobile app. Your existing residential, visitor, or student parking permits are not changing.
You can pay for parking between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Parking is free after 4:30 p.m., on weekends, and on statutory holidays.
