The City of Wrenford is now accepting applications for the 2026 Downtown Business Improvement Grant program, offering up to $30,000 to help local businesses and the Downtown Wrenford BIA activate the core. You can use these funds for public space activations, community events, and exterior improvements along Mercer and Tamsin Streets.
Applicants must provide a 50 per cent match in cash or in-kind donations. The Downtown Wrenford BIA is eligible to apply, as are individual downtown businesses looking to fund projects that benefit the wider neighbourhood. To help you prepare, the Economic Development team offers free pre-consultation meetings to review your project concepts and ensure they align with city guidelines.
“We are thrilled to see fresh ideas coming forward for the downtown core,” said Isabel Moreno, Economic Development Manager. “These grants are a direct investment in the social and economic health of our city. By supporting local activations and beautification projects, we are making downtown a more welcoming place for shoppers, visitors, and new entrepreneurs.”
The application window opens today and closes on January 31, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. You must finish all funded work and book an inspection by August 31, 2026. You will also need to send in quarterly progress reports and a final summary when the project is done.
If you have questions about the application process, how to calculate your matching funds, or what types of projects qualify, contact the Economic Development team at [email protected]. You can also read the full guidelines and start your application online.
