The City of Wrenford is now accepting applications for the 2026 Downtown business improvement grants. You can apply for funding up to $30,000 to help your business or community group bring new life to the downtown core. The grants are a key part of the City's strategy to support local economic growth, improve public spaces, and host events that draw residents and visitors to your historic centre.

Eligible applicants include the Downtown Wrenford Business Improvement Area, local business associations, and non-profit organizations running programming in the downtown corridor. Projects can cover a wide range of initiatives, from seasonal street festivals and outdoor art installations to pop-up market activations and streetscape beautification. To qualify, you must cover 50 per cent of the total project cost through cash contributions or in-kind sponsorships. The City covers the rest through its matching grant pool.
"Supporting our downtown businesses is a top priority for City Council," said City Manager Robert Eng. "These grants are a practical way to keep our commercial core vibrant, welcoming, and ready to welcome shoppers and diners throughout the year. We encourage local groups to step forward with bold ideas that strengthen the community."
You must submit a completed application form, a detailed project budget, and a clear timeline for implementation. All funded projects must be completed by September 30, 2026, to align with the City's fiscal year and allow time for reporting and outreach. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis by the Economic Development team, with priority given to proposals that demonstrate strong community engagement and measurable economic benefits.
To get started, visit the Downtown business improvement grants page for full guidelines, application forms, and eligibility details. If you have questions about the application process or need help developing a project proposal, contact the Economic Development team at [email protected].
We look forward to seeing your ideas come to life in the heart of Wrenford.
