The City of Wrenford is extending operating hours at the Northgate Aquatic Centre through Labour Day weekend. The new schedule begins Saturday, August 2, and continues until Sunday, September 7.
Because of the continued warm weather, the aquatic centre will stay open later in the evenings and offer additional weekend slots. Monday through Friday, the facility will now open at 5:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, the doors will open at 7:00 a.m. and stay open until 7:00 p.m. These changes apply to the 50-metre lap pool, the dive tank, and the waterslide.
"We want to make sure residents can take full advantage of the warm weather while it lasts," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Extending our hours gives families and swimmers more flexibility to visit the pool."
Swimmers should check the daily drop-in schedule before heading to the centre. Programme classes may still run on their normal schedules, and lane reservations could affect open swim times. The outdoor pool season officially runs from late June to Labour Day, so this extension aligns with the expected summer weather.
To stay up to date on any last-minute changes, check the recreation schedule online or follow the City on social media. Crews will begin closing and winterizing the facility after the extended season ends. All hours and programme details are available on the Facility information and hours page.
