On Monday, May 12, 2025, the City of Wrenford broke ground on a new 80-unit affordable housing development at Ambrel Lake Park. This project brings you closer to more affordable rental options in your city.
The development sits on a city-owned lot near the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre. It will include a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units designed for low- and moderate-income households, including seniors and young families. The City is funding the project through the Wrenford Housing Capital Initiative. This program helps lower construction costs so monthly rents stay affordable. All units will be rent-geared-to-income, with a maximum rent cap of $1,480.00 for larger units. You will find a small courtyard, secure bicycle storage, and a shared community room on-site.
Construction is expected to finish by late 2026. “Housing is a basic need, and we have a responsibility to make sure it is within reach for everyone who calls Wrenford home,” says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “This development brings us closer to our goals in the Wrenford Housing Strategy 2025–2030. We are grateful for the partners and city staff who worked hard to bring this project to life.”
The City is still reviewing applications for the Wrenford Housing Capital Initiative and other programs that help build affordable homes.
