The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce the 2026 Heritage Grants program, opening applications to property owners across the city. The program provides financial assistance to help preserve the history and character of Wrenford's historic buildings.
Heritage grants are designed for owners of properties listed on the Wrenford Heritage Register. The program offers two types of support. Maintenance grants cover routine upkeep and minor repairs, providing up to $5,000 for designated properties and $2,500 for properties on the heritage inventory. Major rehabilitation grants support significant conservation work, offering up to $50,000 for designated properties and up to 25 percent of eligible costs for inventory properties. Additionally, property tax exemptions of up to 50 percent of eligible conservation costs are available for designated properties over a 10-year period.
"As Wrenford continues to grow, Council remains committed to preserving the history of our community," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "Recognizing and honouring our past is an essential part of building a better future. We encourage heritage property owners to take advantage of these grants and help us restore our historic buildings."
To apply, you must submit your applications through the Heritage Rehabilitation Application Guide 2026. The application window opens on November 1, 2025, and closes on February 28, 2026. Staff will review all submissions and present a funding report to City Council for approval in the spring.
