The City of Wrenford is proud to present the 2025 Heritage Awards to local property owners and tradespeople who have worked hard to preserve the city's historic buildings. The awards were handed out on September 19 at the Fallsview Arts Centre.
Presented by the Heritage Development Board, this year's winners were chosen for projects that kept our shared history alive. The winning projects include rehabilitated building fronts, brick and stone recovery, window repairs, and refreshed colour selections that respect the original character of each property.
“Every time we restore a heritage building, we are protecting a piece of Wrenford's story for the next generation,” said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “These recipients show us that caring for our historic homes and businesses makes the whole city stronger and more beautiful.”
The 2025 Heritage Award recipients include:
- Façade Rehabilitation Award: A Downtown property owner on Mill Street
- Heritage Recovery Award: A Riverside Flats tradesperson for emergency structural repairs
- Heritage Signage Award: A Kingfisher resident for restoring a historic storefront sign
- Heritage Stewardship Award: A Benchlands business owner for ongoing maintenance
- Commitment to Craft Award: A local mason for exceptional stonework on a heritage home
The Heritage Awards are part of the City's broader Heritage Awards programme, which also offers financial support for conservation work. Property owners can apply for maintenance grants of up to $5,000 for designated properties, or major rehabilitation grants of up to $50,000 for significant restoration projects. The application window opens every November 1 and closes on February 28.
If you own a heritage property or know someone who has done outstanding conservation work, you can nominate them through the Heritage Review process.
