Centennial Gardens spring planting volunteer day scheduled for May 3

The City of Wrenford is hosting a spring planting volunteer day at Centennial Gardens on Saturday, May 3. City staff, community volunteers, and members of the Downtown Wrenford Business Improvement Area will work together to refresh the formal gardens for the summer season.

The day will focus on planting native flowers and perennials, weeding garden beds, and refreshing the soil around the cenotaph and main paths. All tools, gloves, and materials will be provided on site. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to help, though children must be accompanied by an adult. We will also hand out small thank-you gifts to everyone who joins us for the morning, recognizing how much community care means to our neighbourhoods.

A greener downtown draws more visitors and supports local businesses. This event is supported through the City's downtown business improvement grants program, which helps fund projects that make the core more attractive for shoppers, diners, and tourists. When the gardens are blooming, people stay longer in the downtown core, and that means more customers for our local shops and restaurants. The City believes that well-maintained public spaces are a direct investment in our local economy.

Sign up by calling 519-555-0100 or emailing Contact economic development. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring your own water bottle. Light refreshments will be served after the planting is finished. If you have any mobility concerns, let us know when you register so we can make sure you have a comfortable spot to work.

"Investing in our public spaces is investing in our local economy," said Isabel Moreno, Economic Development Manager. "A well-kept downtown makes Wrenford a better place to live, work, and visit."
